The John D. Cannone Award


The John D. Connone Award is the highest honor bestowed on a member of the Ohio Association of Public Treasurers. It is named after the Ohio APT's founding member. In 1974 John Cannone, Treasurer of the City of Akron and Anna Kozusko, Treasurer of the City of Parma organized and chartered the Ohio Municipal Treasurer's Association. John Cannone was also the founder of the Kent State University Public Finance Training. John served as the second President of the Ohio APT and served as the First Ohio National President of the Association of Public Treasuerer's of the United States & Canada.

The John D. Cannone Award is given to Ohio APT Members who unselfishly contribute to the organization and advancement of the Ohio Association of Public Treasurers.

Eagle Award Honors
Associate Members


The majestic bald eagle became the National emblem of the United States in 1782 when the great seal of the United States was adopted as a symbol of courage, leadership and the pursuit of excellence. The bald eagle is only found in North America. in 2007, the bald eagle was removed from the endangered species list.

Ohio APT would like to honor an associated member who has exemplified the qualities of the Bald Eagle with the establishment of a new and prestigious award.

The EAGLE Award stands for Exceptional Associate for Governmental Leadership and Education. The EAGLE award was established to honor and recognize an associate member that has assisted in promoting the interests of public finance officials for the Ohio APT & the APT U.S. & C. The associated member receiving the prestigious award has domonstrated a desire to promote education, networking, and leadershhip in the advancement and the pursuit of excellence in the treasury management profession.
