President's Message

OHIO ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC TREASURERS

Dear OAPT Members:

Summer will be here before we know it. My garden already looks like its July! This month, the OAPT in conjunction with the University of Akron will host the Ohio Public Finance Officers’ Training in Cuyahoga Falls at the Sheraton. I hope to see many of you there. A great program will be offered. We were happy to award four scholarships, two for the full week program and two for the maintenance program. These scholarships cover the registration fee for the program.

Next on the calendar is the APT US & C conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Unfortunately, there was not enough interest in a bus, but I hope that won’t stop you from attending what looks to be one of the best conferences this year. I’m really looking forward to hearing Frank Abagnale speak and seeing Jim Bell from Vandalia become the next APT US & C President!

And finally, this October, OAPT will be hosting our annual fall conference in Dublin, Ohio. We’re planning a few changes for this year. I hope you will all come and learn from our great speakers, enjoy the evening entertainment and visit with your friends and peers. This is the training that I look forward to the most every year. I’ve made so many friends and contacts and I rely on their knowledge and experience during the year when I have a question.

I hope that all of you are able to take advantage of the wonderful programs we offer through the Ohio Association of Public Treasurers. Our mission is to educate and we dedicate ourselves to providing excellent training to any and all finance officers throughout Ohio.

Have a wonderful summer. I’ll look for you in Cuyahoga Falls and Grand Rapids!
