Dear Fellow OAPT Members,
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and I hope the
New Year proves to be a happy and prosperous one for all! As 2011
begins, I can tell you that I am honored and excited to serve
as your president.
As you know, the OAPT is known for its quality educational and
training programs, and with the help of the OAPT Board members,
I plan to continue along that road.
First up on the road of continuing education will be the Hot Topic
seminar which will be held in late March at the Troyer’s Dutch
Heritage Center near Mansfield off I-71. The exact date and topic(s)
will be decided on very soon and promptly sent to you.
The second stop on the road will be the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky
which is where the Public Finance Officers Institute and CPFA
Maintenance programs will be held. As most of you are aware, these
training programs have been coordinated by partner Universities
(Kent State & the University of Akron). The cost of coordinating
the program has grown significantly, and state funding has been
reduced or eliminated, for the Universities we have partnered
with in the past, as well as other new projects. As a result after
much discussion and contemplation, the OAPT Board decided to coordinate
the program and partner with The Ohio State University, John Glenn
School of Public Administration, and the Public Treasury Institute.
The training program will run from June 13 – 17 and the maintenance
program will be June 16 – 17. The OAPT board has managed similar
training programs over the years, i.e. our annual conferences
and hot topic seminars. We are confident that we will provide
you with the same high quality educational opportunities that
have helped you in performing your jobs and
enhancing your careers that you have grown accustomed to.
The final stop on the educational road will be the beautiful Lake
Erie Island of Put-in-Bay which is where the annual fall conference
will be held on October 5-7. As always, this conference will provide
many informative topics and will provide opportunities to earn
CPFA, CPE, & CPIM credits to meet your professional certification
requirements. We have obtained a very good price
at the Put-in-Bay Conference Center which will include the ferry
ride, shuttle service to and from the ferry, and parking on the
mainland. Make sure that you mark your calendars for this one,
because I know that we will have a “boat-load of fun” in addition
to the informative topics and networking opportunities. More details
will follow in the near future.
Now that I have given you a glimpse of the road that we will hopefully
travel together, I along with the OAPT board would like to thank
you for your continued participation in the OAPT. It is all of
you that make our organization so great and if anyone would like
to help or have any ideas for us, please contact me or any of
the board members.
Sincerely,
Ted
