Dear
Fellow OAPT Members,
I
hope this message finds you in good spirits, enjoying early
summer with its’ long
days, or should I say enjoying the anticipation of winding up
the audit, CAFR, and
Tax Budget projects! June not only brings long days, summer
weather, and the
conclusion of some big projects, but also the Ohio Public Finance
Officers Training and CPFA Maintenance Program through the University
of Akron in Cuyahoga Falls. If you have not had this training
yet, be sure and budget it in (money and time) for next year.
It’s excellent quality, you’ll never forget the
experience, and you’ll have a certification which demonstrates
your commitment to your profession.
Just
a month later, from July 25-28, the APT National Conference
will be held
in Charleston, South Carolina. There is still time to register
for this outstanding
conference. Remember, our own OAPT Past President and Finance
Director of
Berea, Dana Kavander, will be sworn in as President of the APT.
We’re very proud
of Dana and hope you will join us in showing her our support
and encouragement.
Preparations
are well under way for the annual OAPT Conference on October
13-
15 in Columbus. Administrator Jack Krise and the entire Board
of Directors are
working to make sure it will be another great line up of interesting
and timely topics, a sampling of which is listed further back
in this newsletter. Enjoyable evening activities are being planned
which will provide additional chances to network and mingle.
Please note that CPE and CPIM credits will be available again
this year. Registration info is available in this newsletter
as well as room reservation info.
Getting
involved with this group and serving on the Board has been a
very
rewarding experience for me. Serving on the Board is a great
chance to expand your professional boundaries, network much
more closely at a higher level with other finance professionals,
and give back to the organization and colleagues. If you are
interested in serving on the Board or a committee, please drop
me a call or e-mail.
In the meanwhile, until we meet again, have a great summer!
Sincerely,
Mike
